Being a vegetarian, we do not have much options while eating out here. Cheese and Onion is the most, sometimes the only combo as far as any pastries, sandwiches or pies are concerned.. I got the idea of making this Cheese and Onion Paratha from that and it turned out awesome. Chotu just loved it, so am sure it would be a hit among kids. Its simple and quick to make too..
Now to the recipe..
[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time-20 mins]
Ingredients:
For the stuffing
- Cheese (grated) – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
- Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Chaat Masala Powder– 1/4 tsp
- Coriander leaves (chopped) – few
- Salt – as needed(see tips)
- Oil – 1 tsp
For Paratha
- Wheat Flour – 2 cups
- Salt – as needed
- Water – as needed
Method:
- Take a wide vessel and add wheat flour & salt. Add enough water(little by little) and make a soft dough. Cover it and keep it aside. Heat a pan with oil and add finely chopped onions and saute until transparent. Let it cool.
- In a bowl add grated cheese, the above onions, chilli powder, salt, chaat masala, coriander leaves and mix well so that all the ingredients get well incorporated. Pinch a small ball sized dough and roll into a small disc.
- Place a generous amount of cheese stuffing in the centre and pinch all the edges of the dough to the centre and seal it on top.
- Roll the stuffed dough with light hands into a thick paratha. (Slighlty thicker than the normal chapathis/rotis) Heat a tawa and cook the stuffed Cheese & Onion Paratha evenly on both sides in medium flame. No oil is required.
Yummy & easy Cheese and Onion Paratha is ready.
Serve hot with any raita or as is.
Tips:
- Keep cheese in the refrigerator and make the stuffing just when u are ready to make the Cheese and Onion Paratha, else the stuffing will melt/spill out while cooking the parathas.
- Be careful while adding salt as cheese has salt in it.
- U can add garam masala in the stuffing too.
- Enjoy these Cheese and Onion Paratha while they are hot and cheesy.
