Peas Masala is a yummy side dish that goes well with roti and pulao varieties like Jeera Rice or any mild pulao.. Its super creamy and yummy. Poori Bhaji is a very popular north Indian combo. South Indians would vote for Poori Masala. This is also a very yummy combo since both are potato based recipes. Potato is an all rounder veggie. I have been wanting to post this recipe here since a long time. This Aloo Poori Bhaji is Chotu`s favourite. He once tried in this in a restaurant and became a fan of it. It is simple to make. Try this combo next time u make pooris. Check HERE for Poori recipe.

Egg Curry Recipe in My Magic Pan! Yes you read it right! We are still vegetarians, in fact we have always been eating eggs. If u have been following my baking recipes, I would have included eggs. It is just that, it did not strike me to add an exclusive recipe with egg here. So here u go with my version of Egg Curry. It is a simple & straight forward recipe, not much fancy ingredients. Most of the times we prefer this gravy or curry kind of boiled egg recipe. I do make a few more which I shall share soon. This Egg Masala Curry goes well with Biryani, Phulkas or rice. Check out the video..

Sweet Corn Gravy – Sweet Corn Curry

April 24, 2020 Dals/Gravies  No comments

While we are all still staying at home, am trying to make food more interesting with the limited ingredients available in the pantry or at the stores. This Sweet Corn Gravy is one such recipe. I have never tried a gravy with sweet corn. Well before that I am not a big fan of sweet corn so I seldom buy it. I had grabbed a bag of frozen sweet corn before the lockdown, just because frozen peas was not available. So now it justifies why I am here with this Sweet Corn Gravy recipe. It turned out really well, sweet corn in spicy gravy. We liked the sweet-spicy combo. Do try my Peas Masala or Methi Matar Malai recipes if you want to use Peas instead.

Lobia Masala – Lobia Masala Curry

April 29, 2019 Dals/Gravies  No comments

Lobia is nothing but black eyed peas. Lobia Masala is a delicious gravy recipe perfect to go with roti and rice. This requires some planning time to soak the black eyed peas. But need not be soaked overnight like Rajma or Chana. Other than that this can be made very quickly. There are 2 ways of doing this. One way is by cooking the lobia first and then adding it to onion-tomato base and the second way is making the onion-tomato base, adding the soaked lobia to it and pressure cooking it. I have followed the 2nd method. Check my Rajma Masala gravy if u want to follow the 1st method.

Tawa Paneer Masala – Paneer Recipes

December 5, 2017 Dals/GraviesHoli RecipesPaneer Dishes  No comments

Paneer is always a favourite at home. This Tawa Paneer Masala is full of flavours. Its a super-yummy, semi-dry curry that goes well with roti & pulao varieties. Ideally as the name suggests it is made in a tawa. Since I do not have one ideal to make this, I made it in my usual pan. Its the quickest paneer recipe unlike the usual Paneer Butter Masala or Shahi Paneer. Not much planning is needed here as it just calls for the usual ingredients available in the pantry. A good dose of capsicum adds a magical flavour.

Veg Kurma – Mixed Vegetable Kurma

June 4, 2017 Dals/Gravies  13 comments

Veg Kurma / Mixed Vegetable Kurma is a perfect side dish for chapathi/poori. This combo is most popularly served in restaurants. Its a good blend of vegetables in a coconut based gravy. This appears in my kitchen quite rarely as most of the time I end up making Paneer Butter Masala, Methi Matar Malai etc..Β I usually make this Veg Kurma when I have left over vegetables, in the sense very little of each veggie that is not enough to make a side dish of its own.. πŸ™‚ Post updated with video on 04/06/17

Paneer Kurma – Paneer Korma

February 22, 2017 Dals/GraviesPaneer Dishes  2 comments

Kurma is a very popular South Indian sidedish for chapathi, poori & parotta. I should say, am not a big fan of kurma. When it comes to paneer, my 1st option would be Paneer Butter Masala. I wanted to make a spicy kurma kind of gravy and made this Paneer Kurma. It came out really well. It was quite spicy, rather than the usual buttery kind of gravy. Hubby liked it very much. It is quite similar to the Veg Kurma recipe which I have shared long back. Really loved the paneer version of it. Recipe with video..

Lauki Chana Dal – Bottle Gourd Chana Dal

November 30, 2016 Dals/Gravies  2 comments

Lauki Chana Dal is nothing but bottle gourd (sorakkai) cooked along with chana dal in a onion-tomato based gravy. Its a very simple and healthy gravy. Bottle gourd has a lot of health benefits, especially for lactating mothers.Β This gravy is quite a different way to use bottle gourd, rather than making the usual kootu. As u know I am always in the look for side dishes to go with roti/phulka, this is a perfect and complete meal altogether with roti.
