Oats Idli is an easy, instant & healthy breakfast recipe. Its instant because there is no soaking, grinding & fermenting required. How cool is that??

This is another recipe to happily include oats in our diet as I am definitely not among those people who love to drink oats porridge.Oats along with veggies is a perfect start for the day to indulge in a guilt free manner.

Now to the recipe…

  • In the same pan, heat oil and roast the broken cashew nuts until golden brown and add it to the oats powder. In the same oil temper with mustard, urad dal, finely chopped green chilly & ginger, curry leaves and asafoetida. To this add grated carrots and peas and saute until the raw smell goes away.

  • Add water enough to make a thick batter just like the normal idli batter. Grease idli moulds with little oil and pour the batter in each hole. Steam it in an idli pot for 12-15 mins or until cooked.

Yummy & healthy Oats Idli is ready.

Serve hot with any chutney of your choice. I served with coconut chutney.

Tips:

  1. The Oats Idli batter should be thick. It will be sticky, so do not worry.
  2. Do not skip to add the baking soda, else u will not be able to get the right texture.
  3. U can add vegetables of your choice. Just saute and add it to the batter.
  4. Wheat rava can be substituted with semolina.
