Baby Corn Manchurian is a popular Indo – Chinese starter/appetizer. Baby Corn is rich in fiber content. This manchurian is a crunchy, sour & spicy dish which am sure is almost everybody’s favourite. Chotu simply loves this and Gobi Manchurian too. Check the recipe HERE.
Now to the recipe…
Baby Corn Manchurian Ingredients:
- Baby Corn – 10 – 15
- Maida – 4 tbsp
- Corn Flour – 1 tbsp
- Rice Flour – 1 tbsp
- Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – as required
- Oil – to fry
For the sauce:
- Onion – 1 small
- Capsicum – 1/2 or 1 small
- Garlic pods – 3-4 (finely chopped)
- Red Chilli Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Tomato Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Soya Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Corn flour – 1 tbsp
- Spring Onion – 2-3 tbsp (chopped)
Method:
- Slit the baby corn diagonally into bite size pieces. Cook it in a pressure cooker along with salt and turmeric powder for 2-3 whistles. They must be firm yet cooked. Keep them aside. For the batter – mix maida, corn flour, rice flour, salt, ginger garlic paste and chilli powder to a thick batter.
- Mix the cooked baby corns along with the batter and mix well so that its coated well. Deep fry this in medium-hot oil until golden brown. Drain it in paper towels. Mix 1 tbsp of corn flour in 1/2 cup of water and keep it ready before we start making the manchurian sauce.
- Heat a pan with 1 tbsp oil, add the finely chopped garlic and saute until the raw smell goes off. Add chopped onions and capsicum and saute for a min. They must be crunchy. Add the fried baby corn. Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce and then keep the flame in high and add soya sauce and mix well. Now reduce the flame and add the corn flour mixture and mix well until its coated well. Do not cook more than a minute.
Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot as a snack or starter.
I had to rescue the fried baby corns from Chotu as he was munching them before even i could get ready with the manchurian sauce. Enjoy this crunchy, saucy & yummy snack with your kids too..
Tips:
- Make the manchurian sauce and keep it ready. Finally add the fried baby corns before serving. It will become soggy if left in the sauce for a long time.
- Do not skip spring onions, as they have a unique flavor.
