Corn Cheese Balls is a super hit starter among kids especially during parties. These are crispy, addictive and will disappear in just minutes. Adults love these too. An advantage in this recipe is that u can make the balls and freeze them in advance and fry it when needed without any hastles. Do try my Paneer Balls or Cheese Rice Balls too. This can be made with simple ingredients from your pantry. Check out the video..

Corn Cheese Balls My Magic Pan

 

[Preparation Time-20 mins : Cooking Time- 20 mins]

Corn Cheese Balls Ingredients:

  • Potato – 1 (large)
  • Cooked Corn Kernels – 1/2 cup
  • Grated cheese – 1/2 cup
  • Corn Flour – 1 tbsp + 1 tbsp
  • Salt – as needed
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Mixed Herbs – 1 tsp
  • Oil – to deep fry

For Coating: 

  • Bread Crumbs – 1 cup
  • Salt – as needed
  • Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Mixed Herbs – 1/2 tsp

Method:

  • Boil or pressure cook 1 large potato. Peel it and mash it well without any lumps. Take corn kernels and boil it until cooked. Drain the water and take it in a mixer.

  • Grind it coarsely. Add it to the mashed potato. Add corn flour, salt, pepper powder & mixed herbs. Mix well so that all the ingredients combine well. Do not over mix.

  • Make equal sized balls from the mixture. Press gently. Take corn flour in a bowl. Add little water and make a paste out of it. Take the bread crumbs in a plate. Add salt, pepper powder & mixed herbs to it and mix well.

  • Take the balls one by one and dip it in the corn flour paste. Roll it in the bread crumbs so that it is coated well.

  • Meanwhile heat oil enough to deep fry. Deep fry the balls until golden brown on all sides.

Tips:

  1. U can make the balls and freeze it for later use. I have not tried as to how many days it can be freezed and used. Should work for a couple of days though.
  2. Always cook in medium flame so that it is cooked evenly, else it will be crispy outside and uncooked inside.
  3. Instead of adding grated cheese, u can stuff the corn cheese balls with cheese cubes and fry too.
  4. I have ground the corn kernels to avoid bursting in oil. U can add whole corn kernels too.
  5. U can use maida instead of corn flour.
