Karuveppilai Thuvaiyal is a healthy & easy recipe to go with rice or even idli/dosa. I prefer consuming curry leaves in the form of this thogayal or thokku rather than adding it in dishes just for fragrance and discarding it while eating 🙂 And I must mention, curry leaves are expensive here, so no wasting! Tomato thokku or Thakkali thokku is a simple side dish that goes with chapathi, poori, idli, dosa and the list goes on…. It’s my favorite since child hood. Idli/Dosa Milagai Podi or Chutney Powder is an item that is always available in my pantry. It is a must for idli/dosa even if I have any number of other side dishes like Tiffin Sambar or Coconut Chutney. I make sure that a fresh batch of this podi is refilled just before the old batch gets over. It goes well when combined with gingely oil or ghee. I had posted this recipe long time back. Beetroot Chutney, the very name is so unique.. I am not a big fan of beetroot, all I end up making is this simple poriyal or this soup! My favourite is halwa though 🙂 I can’t think of anything else. I had some beetroots sitting in the fridge and did not want to make the same old dishes as above. So made this chutney, though I was skeptical in the beginning. Trust me it tasted so good! Went on well with idli, dosa and even with hot rice.

Idli and sambar is the most wonderful combo for any South Indian. This Tiffin Sambar is a very good accompaniment for idli, dosa,pongal or even upma and khichdi. This version is made with toor dal. Peerkangai Chutney is an easy variety of chutney that pairs well for idli/dosa or even rice. I usually make this when we get bored with the normal Coconut Chutney, Tomato Chutney. Peerkangai known as ridge gourd has a mild sweet taste by itself. I have added coconut in this Peerkangai Chutney. U can skip it and make it as is too.
