Gobi Sabzi – Cauliflower Sabzi

Gobi Sabzi / Cauliflower Sabzi is a simple, delicious sabzi that pairs well with chapathi/roti and rice. This is a very aromatic side dish with very simple ingredients. Next to Gobi 65 this is a super-hit at home.

[Preparation Time-15 mins : Cooking Time- 20 mins]

Ingredients:

  • Cauliflower/Gobi – 1
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 2
  • Green Chilly – 1 (Optional)
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Jeera / Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Garlic – 3 to 4
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt – as needed
  • Coriander leaves – a few

Method:

  • Cut the cauliflower into bite size florets. Clean it by keeping it immersed in hot water along with salt for a few mins. Heat a pan with oil and add jeera. Once it fries add chopped garlic and green chillies and saute. Once the raw smell of garlic goes off add finely chopped onions and saute.

  • Once onions become transparent add chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy. Add salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala & turmeric powder and saute till oil oozes out.

  • Now add the cleaned cauliflower florets and mix so that the cauliflower blends well with the masala. Cook covered until cauliflower becomes soft but still firm. Finally add coriander leaves and switch off.

Gobi Sabzi is ready.

Serve hot with rice or roti.

Tips:

  1. Make sure u clean the cauliflower properly.
  2. Do not over cook else cauliflower will be become soggy and mushy. Gobi Sabzi tastes best when its slightly crunchy.
