Kunukku Recipe – Adai Mavu Kunukku

October 1, 2018 Snacks / Starters  No comments

Kunukku is a simple deep fried snack made with rice and lentils. This is made from left over adai batter. If u have some left over adai batter this can be made in no time. So next time when u grind adai batter, plan to keep a small amount of it separately for this humble evening or after school snack. U might have to add a little bit of water to make adai, so it is better to keep aside some of the batter if u want to make this snack. I have used this Adai Batter as the base. Kunukku can also be made with urad dal batter. Shall post that recipe soon 🙂

Now to the recipe..

Kunukku Ingredients:

  • Adai Batter – 2 cups

Method:

  • Take adai batter in a wide bowl. It should be thick (like medhu vadai batter) and not watery. To this add finely chopped onion, curry leaves, rice flour, salt and grated coconut. Mix well so that all the ingredients blend well.

  • Meanwhile heat a pan with oil enough to deep fry. Drop the batter with your hands or with a spoon in about bite size pieces. Flip and cook on both sides until golden brown and crisp. Drain it in paper towels.

Thats it! Yummy & crispy Adai Mavu Kunukku ready!

Serve hot along with a hot cup of coffee.

Tips:

  1. I have added grated coconut, coconut shavings can be added instead.
  2. Add finely chopped ginger for a different flavour.
