Pesarattu Dosa – Moong Dal Dosa

May 10, 2017 Dosa Corner  No comments

Pesarattu Dosa is a very popular breakfast recipe from Andhra Pradesh. It is very healthy and nutritious as it is made from whole moong beans. I learned this recipe from a friend. I tried it for the 1st time and we all loved it. It is a very flavourful dosa variety. One more to the Dosa basket 🙂 Unlike the normal Dosa we do not have to ferment this Pesarattu. The only planning to be done is to soak the moong beans the previous night or for 8-10 hours.

Now to the recipe..

Method:

  • Take moong beans and rice in a bowl. Wash it and add water a little bit more than immersing level. Let it soak for 8 hours or overnight. Next day, drain the water and add the soaked beans to a mixer. To this add ginger, green chillies and grind it into a semi-coarse batter.

  • Add required salt and mix well. This batter needs no fermentation. So it is ready to make Pesarattu Dosa now. Heat a dosa tava and pour a ladle full of the batter. Spread it like a normal dosa. Drizzle some oil and let it cook evenly on both sides.

Tips:

  1. Soak the moong beans atleast for 4-5 hours. It is very important.
  2. Fermentation is not needed for this batter. Dosa can be made immediately after grinding it.
  3. U can top the dosa with finely chopped onions, flip it and cook the other side too.
  4. Adjust green chillies according to your taste buds.
  5. U can make the dosa thick like adai or thin and crispy.
