Godhuma Rava Adai – Multi Grain Adai

April 26, 2018 Breakfast/DinnerDosa Corner  No comments

Adai is always welcome at home. This Godhuma Rava Adai is fully packed with fibre and protein. We are not using rice in this recipe. I always find it as an easy option too, as it is a quick fix recipe for breakfast or dinner. All u need to plan is the soaking time. Usually it is made with rice, chana dal & toor dal. But I add what all lentils is available in hand and make it as a Multi Grain Adai. So thought of sharing it as a post here 🙂 Wheat Rava/Godhuma Rava/Dalia however u call it, is the HERO of this recipe. It is a totally guilt free adai and keeps us full too.

Here is the video..

Now to the recipe..

Method:

  • Soak the godhuma rava along with red chillies in a bowl. Wash & soak all the lentils together in another bowl for 2 hours.

  • This is how it will look after 2 hours.

  • Take the soaked wheat rava in a mixer and grind it into a semi-coarse paste with little water. Transfer it to a wide bowl.

  • Likewise grind the soaked lentils into a coarse paste. Transfer it to the bowl along with the godhuma rava batter.

  • Add required salt, asafoetida, finely chopped onions and curry leaves to the batter. Mix well so that all the ingredients blend well. Heat a tava and pour the batter and spread in circular motion. Drizzle some oil.

  • Flip & cook on both sides until golden brown. This will take a bit more time to cook when compared to the normal dosa.

Thats it! Hot Godhuma Rava Adai is ready!

Serve hot with chutney or podi. I served with white pumpkin aviyal 🙂

Tips:

  1. Adai will take a longer time to cook when compared to dosa. So be patient.
  2. The red chillies I get here are very spicy, so have added only 3 nos. U can increase it according to your requirements.
  3. U can add finely chopped carrot, beans along with onions to make even more healthier.
  4. The batter stores well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days without adding the onions. Add onions just while making the adai for the required amount of batter only.
