Capsicum Fry – Capsicum Besan Sabji

Capsicum Besan Sabji is a quick stir fry recipe that goes well with rice or roti. It can be made easily with the ingredients commonly available in your pantry. This is a favorite since my childhood. The flavour & crunchines of capsicum along with the aroma of besan is heavenly. I would love to pack these for lunch wrapped in a roti or with a simple curd rice.
Now to the recipe…
[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time- 20 mins]
Ingredients:
- Capsicum – 4
- Onion – 2
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Cumin seeds/Jeera – 1 tsp
- Salt – as needed
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – a pinch
- Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- Besan/Gram Flour – 3 tbsp
Method:
- Heat a pan with oil and temper with cumin seeds. Add chopped onions and saute till transparent. Add cubed capsicum and saute.
- Add all the spice powders – salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, jeera powder and stir well. Cook covered for a few mins until half cooked.
- The capsicum must be crunchy. Do not overcook it. Now add besan/gram flour and stir well. Fry it till the raw smell of besan goes off. The sabji should be roasted well.
Capsicum Besan Sabji is ready.
Serve hot with roti or rice.
Tips:
- Do not overcook the capsicum, they must be crunchy.
- Make sure to get rid of the raw smell of besan, else the capsicum besan sabji will not taste good. U can dry roast the besan first and then add finally too.
