Vazhakkai Varuval / Raw Banana Fry is a simple fry with no fancy items. It pairs well with any South Indian meal combo(sambar, rasam, curd rice)I have already posted a Vazhakkai Poriyal recipe with freshly ground spices. This Vazhakkai fry does not involve any grinding though and can be made in 10 mins.

Now to the recipe…

  • Raw banana gets cooked very quickly. Once cooked, sprinkle some rice flour & fry for 3-5 mins in low-medium flame. Once it gets roasted evenly, switch off the flame.

Tips:

  1. Make sure to slice the raw banana evenly & thickly, If its too thin it will easily break.
  2. U can add pepper powder too.
  3. U can add crushed/finely chopped garlic after tempering for an extra flavour.
  4. Rice flour gives a nice crispy texture, so do not skip.
