Homemade Rosemilk – With Homemade Rose Syrup

April 27, 2017 DrinksHoli RecipesSummer Special  4 comments

Rosemilk brings back a lot of childhood memories. We used to make Rosemilk with Roohafza syrup. Am not sure if that is still available in the market. As a child, I thought that was Homemade Rosemilk. Trust me, making Rose Syrup at home is not a big deal. Moreover it does not contain any preservatives, making it a much better option than the store bought ones. I made Rosemilk Popsicles earlier. U can make this Rosemilk and pour it in popsicle moulds and enjoy too. If u ask me, I would not be patient enough to let it freeze and would simply slurp it with a straw 🙂

Now to the recipe..

Homemade Rosemilk My Magic Pan

[Preparation Time-5 mins : Cooking Time- 10 mins ]

Homemade Rosemilk Ingredients:

  • Sugar – 2 cups
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Rose essence – 1 tsp
  • Red food colour – as needed
  • Milk – as needed

Method:

  • Take sugar and water in a pan. Heat it until the sugar dissolves completely. Boil it in medium flame until it reaches sticky consistency. The syrup should be pourable, sticky and form a thin string when u touch it between your fingers. We do not want single string consistency. The string should break immediately. Now add the food colour and boil for a minute so that the colour blends well.

  • Let the syrup cool down a bit. Add the rose essence while it is still warm and mix well. Let it cool completely and store it in a bottle for future use. Take a glass and add 2 tbsps of the Rose Syurp. Add boiled and chilled milk to it. Mix well.

Thats it!! Chilled Rosemilk is ready!

Enjoy this cool drink this summer!!

Tips:

  1. Use good quality rose essence. Do not be tempted to add more. It will lead to a very strong flavour.
  2. The rose syrup consistency should be similar to honey. If u over boil the syrup, it will crystallise after it cools down. It would taste the same though. So do not worry.
  3. Rose Syrup will stay good for upto a month in the fridge.
