Wishing u all a very happy new year!! I always like to begin the new year on a sweet note. This Kalakand is an easy-peasy sweet that can be made in just 15 mins with very simple ingredients. In fact just 2 main ingredients. The traditional method to make Kalakand is quite a long process, but this a quick and shortcut method with condensed milk. I made this for a small get-together at home and it was a super hit. I adapted this recipe from nestle channel and tweaked it a bit. Can the 1st post of the year be without a video?!? Definitely not!! 🙂 Another simple sweet woth condensed milk is 10 Min Palkova.
So here is the video…
Now to the recipe…
[Preparation Time-5 mins : Cooking Time- 15 mins]
Kalakand Ingredients:
- Condensed Milk – 1 tin (400 gms)
- Paneer – 1 & 1/2 cups
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- Crushed pista & almonds – handful
Method:
- Take condensed milk and paneer in a pan and mix well. Cook it over medium flame. Keep stirring. It will get watery first.
- After some time it will start getting thicker. It will start leaving the sides of the pan. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Switch off the flame.
- Transfer the Kalakand mixture to a lined or greased tray. Level it with a spatula. Top it with coarsely crushed pista & almonds. Press it gently so that the nuts stick to the mixture. Let it come to room temperature and refrigerate it for 2 hours. Slice it and enjoy!!
Thats it! Quick Kalakand sweet is ready!!
Enjoy!!
Tips:
- I have use homemade paneer. U can use store bought too. If using store bought, grate or crumble it and use. To make paneer at home – take 1 litre of milk and boil it. Add 3-4 tbsp of curd and let it curdle until the whey water separates. Strain it in a strainer or muslin cloth until the whey water drains completely.
- Cardamom powder is the hero of this Kalakand sweet. So do not skip it.
- Do the entire process in low-medium flame. Keep stirring.
- Once the whole mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan, transfer it to a tray. Do not overcook as the sweet is meant to be moist.
- If u are unable to slice it, just feel free to enjoy it in the form of a halwa. It tastes the same 🙂
- Stays good upto 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
- Another secret life hack tip – U can make this sweet when u are left with some curdled milk.
