This is the first post in my blog. Am feeling so happy and excited. Being my first post, thought of starting with a sweet note (sweet recipe). This Godumai Rava Sweet Pongal / Wheat Rava Kesari can be made for Pongal festival too..

Now lets get to the recipe.

Wheat Rava Kesari

Wheat Rava is nothing but cracked wheat. It is also known as Samba rava or dalia.

This sweet is very easy and can be made very quickly. Unlike the other normal sweets this recipe calls for very less ghee. Hope u all will love it.

Wheat Rava Kesari Ingredients:

  1. Wheat Rava – 1cup
  2. Jaggery(powdered) – 1 ¾ cup
  3. Ghee – 3 tbsp
  4. Elachi powder – a pinch
  5. Cashewnuts – 10 to 12

Method:

  • Soak jaggery in water, add water just till immersing level and set aside for 10 mins. Add 1 tbsp of ghee to a pan and roast the rava until a nice aroma comes from it. Once roasted, add 3 cups of water and cook covered in medium flame for 15-20 mins.

  •  Meanwhile take the jaggery in a pan and heat it till it bubbles. No consistency is required. Drain it to remove impurities and keep aside.Add this syrup to cooked wheat rava and keep stirring in medium flame.
At one stage it will start thickening(not very thick) and leave the sides of the pan, now switch off. Be careful as it will tend to thicken later when it cools. Finally add elachi powder and give a quick stir.
Add roasted cashew nuts and garnish.

Thats it!! Wheat Rava Kesari is ready!!

Enjoy this sweet anytime!!

Wheat Rava Kesari

Tips:

  1. Add less water to jaggery, else it will a long time to thicken.
  2.  I love sweets, so added 2 cups of jaggery. But as above 1 ¾ cup will be fine.

Goodness of Wheat Rava:

  • Wheat rava is a very good substitute for rice and has a high fiber content.
  • It reduces cholesterol and at the same time helps a lot for reducing obesity.
  • Good for diabetes and heart patients too.
