Mullu Murukku is a crispy and crunchy snack that we can make for Diwali. There are many versions of making this murukku. This is with rice flour and urad dal flour. Chotu prefers these snacks rather than the store bought junk foods. Though these are addictive i would’nt mind as they are home made. 🙂  Am sure your kids would love these too.. Try this Garlic Murukku for a variation.

Now to the recipe…

Mullu Murukku My Magic Pan

  1. I used store bought rice flour and home made Urad dal flour, If u don’t have ready to use urad dal flour, u can either grind it in your mixer in batches or from a flour mill(which is much easier) .
  2. U can substitute urad dal flour with Gram Dal flour (Pottu kadalai flour) .
  3. Amma always advices to dissolve salt and asafoetida in water and then make a dough. This is to ensure that it does not burst while deep frying.
  4. Ensure oil is hot when u deep fry.
  5. U can use the 3 stars shaped achu and press it like thenguzhal.
  6. You can use chilli powder for a spicy version.
