Aloo Matar Gravy – Aloo Matar Curry

It was wonderful to be on a vacation, especially enjoying mom made food was divine. Its so sick to be part of the usual routine again.. Anyways will get back to normal very soon 🙂

Coming to Aloo Matar Gravy, Its an easy one pot gravy that pairs well with roti, poori and mild pulao varieties. With a few common ingredients from your pantry, u can make this delicious curry very quickly.

Now to the recipe…

[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time-20 mins]

Ingredients:

  • Potato – 3 medium
  • Peas – 1/2 cup ( I used frozen)
  • Tomato – 2
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as needed
  • Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Fresh Cream – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander – to garnish

Method:

  • Chop potato and tomato and keep it ready. Heat a pressure pan with oil and temper with jeera and asafoetida. Add chopped tomatoes,required salt and chilli powder and cook until oil oozes out. Add garam masala and mix.

  • To this add cubed potatoes and peas. Mix well so that all the masala blends well. Add required water and pressure cook for 1-2 whistles.

  • Once the pressure releases, mix well. Add fresh cream, mix well and garnish with coriander.

Yummy Aloo Matar Gravy is ready.

Serve hot with roti or poori.

Tips:

  1. Do not overcook the veggies. Pressure cooking for 1-2 whistles will do.
  2. I have used frozen peas, u can use fresh peas too.
  3. I have added fresh cream for a rich taste.U can skip it too.
