Paneer Butter Masala is the MOST WANTED dish and an all time favorite in my family. I would say it is a feast for vegetarians! U can find it any restaurant’s menu card. I have tried many versions and this is the best match to the restaurant style Paneer Butter Masala. I had posted this recipe long time back, now updated with new pics and video. We love it best with hot phulkas!
Here is the video
Now to the recipe..
[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time- 30 mins]
Paneer Butter Masala Ingredients:
- Paneer – 200 gms ( cubed)
- Onion – 1 big
- Tomato puree – from 2 medium tomatoes
- Garlic pods – 4
- Ginger – 1 inch piece
- Butter – 3 tbsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – as needed
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Kasoori Methi – a generous pinch
- Cashews – 5 to 7 nos
Method:
- Heat a pan with butter and saute the paneer cubes for a few minutes. Add a pinch of salt while frying-This way paneer will not be bland. Keep aside. This step is purely optional. U can use the paneer as is. In a mixer grind together onions, garlic & ginger to a paste or mince it finely like I have done in the video.
- In the same pan add the ground paste and fry till golden brown. Add tomato puree followed by salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and mix. Cook in medium flame until oil oozes out.
- Add boiled & cooled milk to the onion-tomato gravy and mix and simmer for 3-4 mins. Crush kasoori methi within your palms and add. Meanwhile grind cashews along with milk in a mixer into a paste and keep it ready.
- Add the cashew paste to the gravy and stir so that it combines well. The gravy will start thickening. Finally add the paneer cubes, boil for a min and switch off the flame.
Delicious restaurant style Paneer Butter Masala is ready.
Serve with roti, naan or pulav…
Tips:
- Use boiled and cooled milk. If u add raw milk it will curdle and spoil the whole dish.
- U can mix water with milk and add instead of using milk fully .
- After adding paneer do not cook for more than a minute, else paneer will become gooey.
- U can add oil instead of butter, but I feel its ok to add butter once in a while. And this is Paneer BUTTER Masala.. So y skip it. What say?? 🙂
