Kadai Paneer is a popular paneer dish. Its the most easiest of all paneer dishes. It pairs well with roti & pulao varieties. Kadai Paneer can be made as a dry or gravy version as per your preference.
Now to the recipe..
Kadai Paneer Ingredients:
- Paneer – 1 cup (cubed)
- Tomato – 4
- Onion – 1 (cubed)
- Capsicum – 1 (cubed)
- Coriander Seeds – 1 tsp
- Garlic – 4 to 5 pods (chopped)
- Kasuri Methi – 1 tbsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- Salt – as needed
- Fresh Cream – 3 tbsp
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – to garnish
To dry roast & grind coarsely
- Coriander Seeds – 1 tbsp
- Dry chilly – 2
- Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Method:
- Heat a pan and dry roast coriander seeds, dry chillies & fennel seeds until a nice aroma comes. Let this cool down and grind it coarsely. In the same pan heat some oil and saute the paneer cubes slightly without changing their color. Keep this aside.
- In the same oil, temper with coriander seeds, add chopped garlic and saute for a few seconds. To this add chopped tomatoes and saute until they are mushy.
- Add salt & chilli powder and combine well. To this add the coarsely ground powder and saute. By this time oil will start oozing out. Add cubed onions and capsicum and saute for a few mins. They should be cooked yet crunchy.
- Once the onions and capsicum are half cooked add the fried paneer and water (say 1/2 cup). Add garam masala & kasuri methi and mix. Let it boil for a few mins. Finally add fresh cream, mix & switch off the flame.
Tasty & flavorful Kadai Paneer is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or pulao.
Tips:
- Coriander seeds & kasuri methi are the key ingredients to this Kadai Paneer dish. So dont skip them.
- Do not overcook onions & capsicum. They taste best when crunchy.
- We are adding spiciness in 2 stages so add according to your spice levels.
