Rajma Masala is a favourite. I always end up making it, So wanted to try a Pulao with rajma. Here u go with Rajma Pulao. Its a power-packed one pot meal. The only planning u need to do is to soak rajma overnight. Otherwise it can be made in a jiffy. I was wondering if rajma would get cooked along with rice and Yes! Rajma Pulao My Magic Pan

 

[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time- 20 mins : Soaking Time – overnight ]

Rajma Pulao Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Rajma – 1/2 cup (soaked overnight)
  • Onion – 1
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves – few
  • Salt – as needed
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp

To grind into a paste:

  • Tomato – 1
  • Ginger – 1/2 inch piece
  • Garlic – 2 to 3 cloves
  • Green chilli – 1

Method:

  • Grind the ingredients mentioned under “to grind” into a smooth paste. Keep it ready. Heat a pressure cooker with oil and saute onions until transparent.

 

  • Add the ground paste & saute. Add salt, chilli powder & garam masala.

 

  • Saute until the raw smell goes off and it starts leaving oil in the sides. Now add the soaked rajma.

 

  • Add the basmati rice, 1 & 3/4 cup of water. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and simmer for 7 mins. Once the pressure releases fluff it up with a fork.

 

 

Thats it! Yummy Rajma Pulao is ready!

Serve hot with raita.

Tips:

  1. For a grind free option – u can use ginger garlic paste, slit green chilli & chopped tomatoes.
  2. U can add mint leaves too. It will give a nice flavour.
  3. Rajma got cooked perfectly well. If u are doubtful, u can pre-cook it if u want and add it along with the rice while cooking.
