Here is the video..
Now to the recipe..[Preparation Time-15 mins : Cooking Time- 30 mins]
Aloo Matar Pulao Ingredients:
- Basmati Rice – 1 cup
- Water – 1 & 1/2 cups
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Onion – 1
- Potato – 2
- Peas – 1/2 cup ( I used frozen)
- Salt – as needed
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
For grinding into a paste:
- Tomato – 2
- Garlic – 4
- Ginger – 1 pc
- Green Chillies – 2
- Coriander Leaves – handful
- Mint Leaves – handful
Method:
- In a mixer take all the ingredients mentioned under “to grind”. Grind it into a smooth paste. No need to add water. Water from the tomatoes would be enough to grind.
- Heat a pressure cooker with oil and add sliced onions. Saute until translucent. Now add the ground paste along with salt, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
- Mix well so that all the flavours blend. Saute until raw smell goes off and oil oozes out. Now add cubed potato and frozen peas. Give it a quick mix.
- Add washed basmati rice along with water. Mix carefully without breaking the rice. Check for salt. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and simmer for 7-10 mins. Once the pressure releases, fluff it with a fork.
Thats it! Aloo Matar Pulao ready!
Serve with any raita of your choice.
Tips:
- I have used frozen peas, fresh peas can be used too.
- Adding green chilles is totally optional.
- Adjust spice levels as per your taste buds.
