Bisi Bele Bath

June 21, 2017 Mixed VegRice Varieties  2 comments

Bisi Bele Bath is a speciality of Karnataka. It is quite similar to our Sambar Sadham except for some changes in the masala! I so so love both the versions! Its such a breeze to make. U can have it with a simple papad as it is loaded with veggies and does not need any side dish as such. I prefer to make this on a weekend as we love to have it hot! And also the consistency is best when served hot & fresh.

Veg Kurma – Mixed Vegetable Kurma

June 4, 2017 Dals/GraviesMixed Veg  13 comments

Veg Kurma / Mixed Vegetable Kurma is a perfect side dish for chapathi/poori. This combo is most popularly served in restaurants. Its a good blend of vegetables in a coconut based gravy. This appears in my kitchen quite rarely as most of the time I end up making Paneer Butter Masala, Methi Matar Malai etc.. I usually make this Veg Kurma when I have left over vegetables, in the sense very little of each veggie that is not enough to make a side dish of its own.. 🙂 Post updated with video on 04/06/17

Brinjal is my all time favourite! I can eat brinjal in any form. This Stuffed Brinjal Fry is a simple and flavourful curry to go with rice or roti. The freshly ground masala does the magic here. Usually the stuffing will be made with peanuts and sesame seeds. Since am not a big fan of that combo, have changed the flavours according to our taste buds. If u are like me, try this combo. Have given the usual masala powder option in the tips. Ennai Kathirkkai is my favourite too.

Puttu is basically peeled and mashed vegetable that is tempered with spices, green chillies and onion. This Potato Puttu is a simple yet flavourful side dish for rice. This goes well with sambar, rasam & most of all with any spicy kuzhambu. Usually I make some kootu variety to pair with it, but this Potato Puttu is also a favourite at home. When we get bored with the usual potato fry with all the masalas, I make this much milder version.
