April 8, 2017 Lunch Menu Series  4 comments

In the lunch menu series, this week its a very simple yet delicious South Indian Variety Rice Lunch Menu. I made this during the weekdays to pack as a lunch. My favourite among variety rice is puliyodharai and curd rice is always a comfort food. I made a batch of raw banana chips as an evening snack, but most of it got over for lunch itself. So this added some crunchiness to the simple Variety Rice Menu. See below for other options of variety rice and side dishes.

Panagam – Panakam – Rama Navami Recipes

April 3, 2017 DrinksSummer Special  2 comments

Panagam or Panakam is a traditional drink made especially on Rama Navami. It is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. As Rama Navami falls on the 5th of April, thought of posting this traditional recipe. This is a child hood favourite. My grandma used to make this for her daily pooja as a prasad, especially during summer time. It is a perfect thirst quencher too. The addition of cardamom and ginger powder gives a divine taste to it.

Rosemilk Popsicle – Rose Popsicle

March 30, 2017 Ice CreamsSummer Special  8 comments

Rosemilk is a childhood favourite flavour. I recently made Rosemilk with homemade rosemilk syrup. Recipe coming soon HERE. I wanted to make it as a popsicle but did not want to use the syrup. So made this easy peasy Rosemilk Popsicle which was a super hit at home. U need very simple ingredients to make this. Its a very easy, no cook popsicle recipe. All u need to do is whip up a few ingredients, pour it in popsicle moulds and freeze. Tadaaaaa! Refreshing cool popsicles will be ready. I agree with you, the waiting time to let it freeze is really boring. But it’s worth the wait! So try it out. 🙂

Stuffed Brinjal Fry – Stuffed Brinjal Curry

March 28, 2017 Aubergine/BrinjalDry SabjiKootu / Poriyal Varieties  2 comments

Brinjal is my all time favourite! I can eat brinjal in any form. This Stuffed Brinjal Fry is a simple and flavourful curry to go with rice or roti. The freshly ground masala does the magic here. Usually the stuffing will be made with peanuts and sesame seeds. Since am not a big fan of that combo, have changed the flavours according to our taste buds. If u are like me, try this combo. Have given the usual masala powder option in the tips. Ennai Kathirkkai is my favourite too.

Potato Puttu – Urulaikizhangu Puttu

March 15, 2017 Kootu / Poriyal VarietiesPotato RecipesTirunelveli Style Recipes  6 comments

Puttu is basically peeled and mashed vegetable that is tempered with spices, green chillies and onion. This Potato Puttu is a simple yet flavourful side dish for rice. This goes well with sambar, rasam & most of all with any spicy kuzhambu. Usually I make some kootu variety to pair with it, but this Potato Puttu is also a favourite at home. When we get bored with the usual potato fry with all the masalas, I make this much milder version.

Homemade Chocolate – Easy Chocolate Recipe

March 8, 2017 Bars N CookiesSweets/Desserts  7 comments

Homemade Chocolate has been in my to do & trial list since a long time. I have tried making it 3 times using various methods – with milk powder, single string sugar consistency, microwave version!! And all of it has been a super flop!! It was not presentable and refused to leave the mould, but it did not go waste!!  After all the attempts, finally this version worked well. This is a simple, no fail process with just 3 ingredients. If u do not like a coconut flavoured chocolate, u might not like this. To me it tasted like a smoother, no bits version of Bounty Chocolate. If u like Bounty, or coconut flavour in your chocolate then GO for it!! Do try my No bake Choco Nutty Cake.
