September 15, 2020 Drinks  No comments

Tulasi Tea or Tulasi Kashayam is a wonder drink made with super simple ingredients. I would say Tulasi is a miracle herb. It is nothing but holy basil. It has a strong and refreshing flavour with loads of health benefits. It is perfect for common cold and flu. There are many varieties of tulasi, but the one we get here is Greek Basil. Have attached a pic of my plant, do have a look if interested. U can call this tea, though I have not added tea leaves/powder here, or kashayam or herbal health drink. Trust me this is such a refreshing drink to boost your immunity. Check out the quick video below..

Seppankizhangu Fry – Arbi Fry – Arbi Roast

August 5, 2020 Bachelor Friendly RecipesKootu / Poriyal VarietiesNO Onion NO GarlicPotato Recipes  One comment

Seppankizhangu is a variety of potato also known as Arbi, Colocasia, Taro Root but with a sticky nature. All I know is Seppankizhangu 🙂  This Seppankizhangu Fry is a simple side dish for rice along with sambar,  rasam or mor kuzhambu. It is everybody’s favourite in my family. I love seppankizhangu to the core. My most fav combo is with Mor Kuzhambu. Because of its sticky nature, Chotu calls this as sticky potato. Amma tempers this Seppankizhangu fry with ajwain. It gives such a magical aroma & taste to it. For another version of this try this RECIPE.

Karuveppilai Thuvaiyal – Karuveppilai Thogayal

July 27, 2020 Chutney RecipesSide Dish for Idli/Dosa  No comments

Karuveppilai Thuvaiyal is a healthy & easy recipe to go with rice or even idli/dosa. I prefer consuming curry leaves in the form of this thogayal or thokku rather than adding it in dishes just for fragrance and discarding it while eating 🙂 And I must mention, curry leaves are expensive here, so no wasting! Karuveppilai or curry leaves is known for its health benefits. Its rich in iron. Thuvaiyal is meant to be thick rather than a normal chutney. Try this Karuveppilai Thokku recipe if interested.

Sodhi Recipe – Tirunelveli Sodhi Recipe

July 18, 2020 CoconutKuzhambu VarietiesTirunelveli Style Recipes  No comments

Sodhi is a very rich coconut milk based recipe which is native to our place (Tirunelveli). This is a must in our marriages. It is usully made on the next day of the wedding known as Maru Veedu. Our weddings are like a 3 day festival and the highlight is this Sodhi Sapadu. This is served with Inji Thuvaiyal (recipe coming next), potato fry & potato chips. Totally divine. A tip for eating this which many are not aware – It is meant to be eaten like Rasam Rice and not like Sambar Rice. Meaning you must pour more sodhi generously than the amount of rice. Eating this on a banana leaf is a trick yet heavenly. Goes well with dosa as well.

July 14, 2020 Paneer Dishes  No comments

Paneer Lababdar is a creamy, delicious paneer recipe which is quite different from the usual Paneer Butter Masala. I came to know about this recipe from a friend. We all really loved it. It is easy to make. No complicated steps, just a few tweaks here and there from the usual paneer gravy and this results in an unique taste. The addition of scrambled paneer does the magic. Goes well with roti, naan & pulao varieties. Do check out the video..
