This lunch menu is a Biryani Meal along with a gravy. Made this on a weekend. On the plate is Veg Biryani, Ennai Kathirikkai, Onion Raita(my hubby’s style) & Potato chips (store bought). We love to switch to this menu in between the boring kuzhambu, rasam & poriyal meals. Usually biryani would be paired with just the onion raita. This time paired it with Ennai Kathirikkai, my all time favourite combo.

March 15, 2017 Kootu / Poriyal Varieties, Potato Recipes, Tirunelveli Style Recipes
-
Puttu is basically peeled and mashed vegetable that is tempered with spices, green chillies and onion. This Potato Puttu is a simple yet flavourful side dish for rice. This goes well with sambar, rasam & most of all with any spicy kuzhambu. Usually I make some kootu variety to pair with it, but this Potato Puttu is also a favourite at home. When we get bored with the usual potato fry with all the masalas, I make this much milder version.

-
Navaratri is around the corner. This Kollu Sundal is a flavourful and easy sundal to make during Navaratri. The only planning needed to make this sundal is to soak kollu/horsegram overnight. After making the Kollu Rasam, for which I used only a little portion of the cooked kollu, I made this Kollu Sundal. It was so flavourful and filling.
