Navaratri is around the corner. This Kollu Sundal is a flavourful and easy sundal to make during Navaratri. The only planning needed to make this sundal is to soak kollu/horsegram overnight. After making the Kollu Rasam, for which I used only a little portion of the cooked kollu, I made this Kollu Sundal. It was so flavourful and filling.

This Mothagam with Kadalai Paruppu Pooranam is the trademark recipe in every household for Pillayar Chathurthi. On the day I make Chickpeas Sundal, this mothagam or Mothagam with coconut pooranam and Ellu Urundai. Sometimes Medhu Vadai would also be in the list. So I usually end up making the pooranam the previous day so that it is quite easy. I tried making the Mothagam with a mould that I got from India. Kadalai Paruppu Pooranam is the most common stuffing used for making Mothagam. Last year I had posted Mothagam with coconut and jaggery stuffing. This is with chana dal, coconut and jaggery. My most favourite. My mom usually makes some extra for me, as I love eating this stuffing as is without even being stuffed in a Mothagam. I am just making this as a separate post for easy reference. Pakodas always have a high demand at home, am sure it is the same in every household. This Paneer Pakoda is an easy and tempting pakoda variety. I totally forgot to use a litre of milk and realised it only when it went overdue the expiry date. It curdled upon boiling which was what I expected!! So I added some curd and made it as paneer/cottage cheese. Make sure to check that the paneer is not sour. If it is please do not use it, if it tastes good continue to use it.
