January 17, 2017
Holi Recipes, Paneer Dishes, Snacks / Starters
-
Paneer 65 is a very popular starter in any Indian restaurant menu. It is a spicy pakoda kind of snack that can be had with coffee/tea or as a starter. Paneer is an universal favourite especially for vegetarians. Chotu just loves paneer in any form. I made this Paneer 65 during the holidays and he could not resist to pick one while I was clicking the pics. U can see the result below 🙂 The only planning that u need to do is to marinate the paneer. Once that is done it is only a 15 min process. Do try my Paneer Pakoda recipe..

After all the festival food, we wanted a spicy kulambu like this Poondu Kulambu. This Poondu Kulambu is an easy, spicy & lip-smacking one which does not involve any grinding. Usually when it comes to kulambu with garlic my favourite would be this Puzhi Kuzhambu, but when I want to make a quick one I choose this Poondu Kulambu. Was just wondering how I missed to publish this recipe here all these days. Can be made very quickly with simple ingredients that are always available in the kitchen.

Lemon Rice is a very common and popular South Indian rice variety. It is an easy and quick lunch box recipe. All u need is rice, lemon juice and tempering. I pretty much told the recipe here. Actually this is not a fancy recipe to be published here, but there are many beginners/bachelors who really need this. My favourite among these rice varieties is Puliyotharai especially with home made Pulikaichal. This Lemon Rice is good to go as is or divine with any potato sabji & papad/crisps.

Wishing u all a very happy new year!! I always like to begin the new year on a sweet note. This Kalakand is an easy-peasy sweet that can be made in just 15 mins with very simple ingredients. In fact just 2 main ingredients. The traditional method to make Kalakand is quite a long process, but this a quick and shortcut method with condensed milk. I made this for a small get-together at home and it was a super hit. I adapted this recipe from nestle channel and tweaked it a bit. Can the 1st post of the year be without a video?!? Definitely not!! 🙂 Another simple sweet woth condensed milk is 10 Min Palkova.

Gosh!! It is an unbeatable South Indian combo!! We love both the tiffin sambars with this pongal. I usually do the tempering in the beginning itself, so that the work would be done in one shot. U can temper finally too. Post updated with video 🙂

Yayyyyy!! Finally made it! Yes!! Adhirasam was a long time due post. I tried making it for last Diwali and it was a super flop 🙁 Did not dare to try it again until this year’s Diwali. It was a flop again!! Lazy me, I tried making it with store bought rice flour. Though I got the jaggery syrup consistency right both the times, it was a super flop!! Finally I made it with homemade rice flour and it was a super hit!! In my opinion, traditional recipes should be made the traditional way – No shorcuts!! 🙂 So pls don’t get disappointed if it doesnt work. Just try again!! Now I can tell all the Do’s & Dont’s to make Adhirasam successfully..
I gained courage to make it as a ...

Lauki Chana Dal – Bottle Gourd Chana Dal
November 30, 2016
Dals/Gravies
-
Lauki Chana Dal is nothing but bottle gourd (sorakkai) cooked along with chana dal in a onion-tomato based gravy. Its a very simple and healthy gravy. Bottle gourd has a lot of health benefits, especially for lactating mothers. This gravy is quite a different way to use bottle gourd, rather than making the usual kootu. As u know I am always in the look for side dishes to go with roti/phulka, this is a perfect and complete meal altogether with roti.

Rajma Masala is an authentic Punjabi dish made with red kidney beans, cooked in onion-tomato gravy along with spices. This comes to my rescue when I run out of veggies. Moreover its Chotu’s favourite, so always happy to make this. It goes well with roti, naan, paratha & rice. I personally like to have it even with dosa or bread 🙂
