Grapes Pickle – Instant Green Grapes Pickle

February 18, 2019 Pickles  No comments

I never had any idea of making a pickle out of green grapes. I had bought 2 packs of grapes during my last week shopping. These green grapes happened to be so sour that could not be consumed happily as a fruit, so ended up making this Green Grapes Pickle. Trust me it tasted just yumm! Sour, sweet, spicy & flavourful! This is yet another instant pickle variety and can be made in 5 mins literally. Recipe with video 🙂 Which is your all time favourite pickle? Mine is this simple Tomato Thokku

Here is the video..

Now to the recipe..

Method:

  • Wash and cut each grape in half. Heat a pan with oil. Add mustard and allow it to crackle. Add a pinch of asafoetida and saute. Simmer and add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and roasted fenugreek+mustard powder. Mix well for a few seconds. Do not burn.

  • To this add the halved grapes. Mix well so that the grapes get coated evenly. Just saute for a minute. No need to cook the grapes. Switch off the flame.

Thats it! Lip-smacking Green Grapes Pickle ready!

Serve with curd rice – the best combo!

Tips:

  1. Cutting the grapes is purely optional. U can use it as a whole too. I just loved the juicy texture.
  2. While adding the spice powders make sure the heat is low. Do not burn it, else it will spoil the taste.
  3. For roasted fenugreek+mustard powder – dry roast (separately) 1 tsp of mustard seeds until it crackles and 1/2 tsp of fenugreek seeds just until u get a nice aroma and grind them together.
  4. The pickle might look dry intitially, later on it will look juicy as in the pictures.
