Ven Pongal is always a favourite at home. It is a very easy to make comfort breakfast food. It is truly divine when served hot with a dollop of ghee. Ven Pongal, Vadai, Sambar & Coconut Chutney.. Gosh!! It is an unbeatable South Indian combo!!  We love both the tiffin sambars with this pongal. I usually do the tempering in the beginning itself, so that the work would be done in one shot. U can temper finally too. Post updated with video 🙂

October 13, 2013 Bell Pepper/CapsicumDry SabjiKids BayPaneer Dishes  2 comments

Paneer is an all time favourite, especially for vegetarians!! This Paneer Capsicum Sabji recipe is the most easiest of all Paneer recipes. It can be made very easily and quickly, yet it tastes yummy.  This can be a delicious lunch box idea for kids – as a roti wrap or a grilled sandwich. Kids would love it! This is Chotu’s favourite filling for sandwich. Check out the sandwich recipe if interested. This sandwich is not only wholesome but also healthy as kids get a good dose of veggies and paneer. You can make it more attractive by using all colours of capsicum or whichever is available. Check my full collection of Paneer recipes HERE.

Karamani Sweet Sundal – Navaratri Recipes

October 5, 2013 Navaratri Special  No comments

As Navaratri has started wanted to begin with a sundal variety. Navarati is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. Sundal is an ideal dish during Navaratri. This Karamani Sweet Sundal is an easy sundal variety made with Karamani. Other names are Lobia or Black eyed peas.  U can serve this as a snack too rather than just during navaratri days. While most of my sundal varieites would be salted/spicy versions this sweet one is my favourite. Do try my Peanut Sundal as well which is yet another protein-rich sundal.

This recipe is about Bitter Gourd Sabji. I can hear a lot of people say ” I hate this veggie” , but wait I have a few tips to get rid of the bitterness. I have never said NO to bitter gourd, provided Amma makes it. This is exactly how she makes it. It might look like a long process, but once u have chopped the veggie, u can make it very quickly. This goes well with chapathi and rice too.
