Strawberry Sorbet

May 28, 2015 Ice CreamsSummer Special  15 comments

Sorbet – I came across this, quite a few times in some magazines. And I really don’t know what fancied me to try this.. Whatever may be, I just loved the simplicity of the recipe… Then after some googling about it, found that Sorbet is nothing but a frozen fruity treat that does not contain any dairy content like cream or milk. This Strawberry Sorbet is an easy, quick to make and does not require an ice cream maker. With simple ingredients and just a few steps u can treat yourself with this refreshing summer dessert!!

Now to the recipe…

[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time- 5 mins Freezing Time – 10 to 12 hrs]

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Method:

  • Wash and clean the strawberries. Blend them into a smooth puree in a blender/mixer. Meanwhile, take sugar and water in a pan and let it boil. Make a simple syrup (the sugar must get dissolved). No consistency is required. Let it cool.

  • Now add lemon juice and the cooled sugar syrup to the strawberry puree and blend well. Take a bigger mixie jar, or u will end changing it in between like me

  • Transfer it into a freezer safe container and freeze it for 1 hour. Take it from the freezer and break the chunks with a fork. Refreeze it and repeat the process every 30 mins for 5 to 6 times. Then let it freeze over-night or for 10 to 12 hours. Scoop and serve.

Tips:

  1. Adjust sugar according to the sweetness of strawberries.
  2. U can blend the mixture in between freezing instead of breaking it with a fork for a much smoother texture.
  3. If u have an ice cream maker u can churn the strawberry sorbet according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Stays good upto 3 weeks in the freezer, but am sure it will be finished by then!! 🙂
