This homemade tomato based sauce can be used for Pizza or Pasta. I am a big fan of pasta. So thought of trying this Pasta sauce instead of the store bought ones or the normal tomato sauce. It did taste much better than the readymade ones. Its healthy too..

Now to the recipe…

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes – 3
  • Garlic – 3 (finely chopped)
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Oregano – 1 tbsp
  • Tomato Ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – as needed
  • Sugar – 1 tsp

Method:

  •  Take red ripe tomatoes and make a criss-cross on the bottom side of each tomato. Boil a pan of water and cook the tomatoes for 5-7 mins or until the tomatoes are cooked. Keep this aside and let it cool. U will be able to peel the skin of the tomatoes easily.

Tips:

  1. U can add chopped onions and carrots along with garlic.
  2. U can use olive oil or refined oil instead of butter.
  3. Adding sugar is optional, but it helps to reduce the acidity of tomatoes.
  4. U can add chilli flakes and reduce the amount of chilli powder accordingly.
