Paruppu Thogayal – Paruppu Thuvaiyal

May 21, 2015 Chutney Recipes  8 comments

Paruppu Thogayal is a traditional chutney recipe that goes very well with rice. Paruppu Thuvaiyal and vatha kuzhambu along with papad is a wonderful combo. It is a good alternative to the usual kuzhambu and poriyal combo. I make this quite often when we are bored with the normal menu or when I dont have any veggies left.. It is an easy and quick to make thogayal, perfect for those lazy days!!!

Now to the recipe…

Method:

  • Grind it into a coarse powder. To this add grated coconut, pottukadalai, salt and tamarind paste. Grind it into a semi-coarse paste. Add very little water, just for the ease of grinding.

Tips:

  • U can add 1 or 2 garlic cloves for added flavour.
  • Adding tamarind is totally optional. It is just our personal taste bud preference.
  • U can add a few pepper corns while dry roasting the red chilles. Reduce red chillies accordingly.
  • This Paruppu Thogayal is meant to be thick. Adjust water according to the consistency u prefer.
