Any chutney along with idli/dosa is an unbeatable combo. This Spicy Red Coconut Chutney is quite spicy as the name suggests, as it has red chillies, shallots & garlic. I have already posted a red coconut chutney already which is suitable for travel as well. This does not involve any dry roasting. All u need to do is grind the ingredients and temper it. If u do not want to use onion or garlic check the above chutney.

Vendhaya Keerai Sambar is a very easy and simple sambar with the goodness of vendhaya keerai/methi leaves. Methi leaves are a good source of iron and fibre. I usually make Methi Paratha with it. This time wanted to make a sambar. Trust me the sambar will not taste bitter. It will be very flavourful with the magic of methi leaves. Do check my homemade Sambar Powder recipe too.

Fresh juices, ice creams & milkshakes are the need of the hour now. Especially in Chennai, the heat waves have not gone down yet. This Carrot Orange Juice is an easy and refreshing juice to beat the heat. Chotu is a big fan of orange juice. Any sort of fizzy/aerated drink is a big NO at home. Chotu does not like them either. Not much fancy ingredients are needed here. So enjoy this simple and refreshing drink. Check my other summer treats HERE!

Veg Kurma – Mixed Vegetable Kurma

June 4, 2017 Dals/Gravies  13 comments

Veg Kurma / Mixed Vegetable Kurma is a perfect side dish for chapathi/poori. This combo is most popularly served in restaurants. Its a good blend of vegetables in a coconut based gravy. This appears in my kitchen quite rarely as most of the time I end up making Paneer Butter Masala, Methi Matar Malai etc..Β I usually make this Veg Kurma when I have left over vegetables, in the sense very little of each veggie that is not enough to make a side dish of its own.. πŸ™‚ Post updated with video on 04/06/17

May 10, 2017 Breakfast/DinnerDosa CornerDrinks  No comments

Pesarattu Dosa is a very popular breakfast recipe from Andhra Pradesh. It is very healthy and nutritious as it is made from whole moong beans. I learned this recipe from a friend. I tried it for the 1st time and we all loved it. It is a very flavourful dosa variety. One more to the Dosa basket πŸ™‚ Unlike the normal DosaΒ we do not have to ferment this Pesarattu. The only planning to be done is to soak the moong beans the previous night or for 8-10 hours.

Rosemilk – With Homemade Rose Syrup

April 27, 2017 DrinksSummer Special  4 comments

Rosemilk brings back a lot of childhood memories. We used to make Rosemilk with Roohafza syrup. Am not sure if that is still available in the market. Trust me, making Rose Syrup at home is not a big deal. Moreover it does not contain any preservatives, making it a much better option than the store bought ones. I made Rosemilk Popsicles earlier. U can make this Rosemilk and pour it in popsicle moulds and enjoy too. If u ask me, I would not be patient enough to let it freeze and would simply slurp it with a straw πŸ™‚
