Masala Tea Powder – Chai Ka Masala Powder

Tea is a most common beverage in any Indian household. I love Masala Chai, especially the flavour and the mild spiciness in it. Always used to wonder what ingredients went into the making. This Masala Tea Powder is such a simple and handy powder which adds a magical aroma and flavour to the normal tea, and with the ingredients that are normally available in the kitchen. Saw this Masala Tea Powder in Tarla Dalal’s show and was really excited to try it. I just skipped the nut meg powder that was added in the original recipe.

Am sure, once you start drinking Masala Chai along with this Magical powder, you will not drink normal tea! I had posted this recipe long back, now updated with video 🙂 Check the video HERE

Now to the recipe..

Check out how to make Masala Chai

Tips:

  1. U just need to add a pinch of this Chai Masala Powder while making tea for 2 people. Do not exceed a pinch, else it will be too strong and spoil the taste.
  2. Store it in air-tight container and use it. Stays well for upto 3-4 months.
  3. Instead of ginger powder, u can use dry ginger (sukku). If using dry roast it along with the other ingredients and powder it.
  4. You can totally skip ginger powder and add freshly crushed ginger while making tea.

Tku so much for all your delicious recipes. One clarification, you mentioned in the masala tea powder, we could use dry ginger instead of ginger powder, can you please tell me what quantity of dry ginger should I purchase, thank you.

Thank u for your lovely comment!! U can use a medium sized whole dry ginger piece for the above mentioned quantity. Else u can also use freshly crushed ginger(1/2 inch piece) while making tea. Hope this helps!
