Lunch Menu 1 – South Indian Lunch

March 4, 2017 Lunch Menu Series  5 comments

I am so excited to start this Lunch Menu series. The most common question that comes to a woman’s mind is “what to cook?” Am one among you all too 🙂 It would be so annoying at times when nothing comes to my mind. So just thought of sharing my ideas and the combos that I make, especially for lunch. This is a simple South Indian Lunch menu with Sambar & Vazhakkai Poriyal. See below for recipe links and some tips to finish cooking quickly. Am just sharing my way and the order in which I cook. U can follow the same if u find it convincing.

Now to the recipes…

Quick Tips:

  1. Pressure cook toor dal, soak tamarind and chop the veggies for sambar – I used sambar onion & drumstick. By the time all this is done and the drumstick gets cooked in the tamarind + sambar powder extract, dal would be ready. Add the dal to it, boil and temper finally. Sambar ready!
  2. Meanwhile in another pan, dry roast the ingredients for the poriyal. Chop the raw banana and cook it. Powder the roasted ingredients. Temper, add cooked raw banana & the ground masala. Saute for a while. Vazhakkai Poriyal ready!
  3. Finally pressure cook rice so that its hot while serving.
