Kaju Mutter Paneer Recipe

Paneer dishes are always special. Kaju Mutter Paneer is a very famous & the most frequently ordered gravy in any restaurant. Paneer & peas (mutter) are cooked in a rich tomato based sauce along with spices. It pairs well with roti, naan, paratha & pulao.

Now to the recipe..

[Preparation Time-10 mins : Cooking Time- 20 mins]

Ingredients:

  • Paneer – 1 cup
  • Peas – 1/2 cup
  • Cashews – 10 to 15
  • Onion – 2
  • Tomato – 2
  • Green chilly – 1
  • Ginger/garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 4 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – as needed
  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh Cream – 1/4 cup
  • Coriander leaves – a few

Method:

  •  Heat a pan with oil and saute chopped onions. Once the onions become transparent add chopped tomatoes, green chilly & ginger-garlic paste. Saute till tomatoes become mushy. Once it cools down, grind this into a smooth paste and keep it ready.

  • In the same pan, add oil & fry the cashewnuts till golden brown. Keep this aside. In the same pan shallow fry the paneer pieces until sligtly brown. Keep this aside.

  • In the same pan heat some ghee & add the ground paste. Add required salt, chilli powder & coriander powder. Mix & let this boil for a few mins until the raw smell goes away.

  • To this add peas (I used frozen peas) and cook for 3-4 mins in low-medium flame or until the peas gets cooked. Then add the sauted paneer pieces, garam masala & mix. ( Sorry, missed to click a pic with garam masala)

  • Finally add the fresh cream, mix & switch off the flame. Add finely chopped coriander leaves.

Yummy, rich & creamy Kaju Mutter Paneer is ready.

Serve hot with roti, naan or pulao.

Tips:

  1. U can add paneer without frying. Keep it immersed in warm water for a soft texture.
  2. U can steam the green peas for 2-3 mins before adding too.
  3. U can grind the cashews along with the onion-tomato.
