  • Now add baking powder, wheat flour and all purpose flour and mix gently. It will look like a crumbly mixture. Then knead it with very light hands to form a soft dough.

  • Pinch a small amount of dough and make a small ball out of it. Make a small dent in the middle. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough. Meanwhile pre-heat the oven to 180 deg Celsius for 10 mins. Place the shaped cookies in a baking tray.

  • Bake it for 10-15 mins or until the cookies turn slightly golden at the edges. You can place the cookies close to each other as they wont spread much. While they are still warm spoon in some jam on each cookie in the dent that we made. Let it cool completely.

Tips:

  1. U can use all purpose flour for the full amount.
  2. While making the jam cookies make sure they are of the same size. I used a teaspoon to measure the dough each time while rolling the cookie. This will ensure even baking.
  3. U can also roll the cookie dough evenly and make shapes using a cookie cutter.
  4. U can use any jam of your choice. I have used mixed fruit jam to make these Eggless Jam Cookies.
  5. U can melt the jam using double boiler method so that it is easy to spoon over the cookies. I just added it as is though.
  6. Baking time depends upon the size & thickness of the cookies.
  7. With the above measurements, it makes around 15-20 cookies. Again this depends upon the size of your cookies.

Hi Sundari, The cookies look yum and very easy to make. My question is, won’t the Jam stick to the other cookies when we store them later or should I keep them in a single layer? Never made these… Hence the doubt. Thanks

Thank u Anjana for your lovely comment!
I stored them as a single layer as I made a small batch of cookies. If u want to stack them up, I would suggest to place a layer of parchment paper in between.. It might get sticky and spoil the look. Hope this helps.

Jam cookies looks so perfect…yummy texture !

  • Aarzoo  says:

I tried making the cookies with the same recipie but the dough din’t stick together so i had to add more butter to it. And the cookies flattened while baking

    • Sundari Nathan  says:

Not sure what went wrong!! Reasons for dry dough could be – not enough beating of butter and powdered sugar into a smooth and creamy texture. Since u added butter later because the dough was sticky, it would not have raised. Also if your baking powder is very old, it would lead to flat cookies.
