Custard Powder Ice Cream – Ice Cream Recipes

June 2, 2017 Ice CreamsSummer Special  3 comments

Custard Powder Ice Cream was in my to do list since ages. I had noted down this recipe in my scribbling pad long time back, not sure of the source. Just like my other Ice Cream recipes, this is a very easy ice cream recipe to make at home. No ice cream machine is needed here too. All u need is a hand blender or even a mixie/mixer will do. I have used vanilla custard powder. U can use any flavour of your choice. THIS HAPPENS TO BE MY 350th POST 🙂

Now to the recipe…

[Preparation Time-20 mins : Freezing Time- 6-8 hrs or overnight ]

Custard Powder Ice Cream Ingredients:

  • Custard Powder – 2 tbsp
  • Milk – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Cream – 4 tbsp

Method:

  • Take a small bowl with custard powder. Add 2 to 3 tbsp of milk to it and mix well without any lumps. Keep this aside.

  • Take milk in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Add the sugar and let it boil for 5 mins in medium flame. Keep the flame low and add the custard mixture. Stir continuously for a couple of minutes.

  • It will become thick, just like the consistency of dosa batter. Switch off, let it cool completely and add the cream to it. Use an electric blender and whip until thick. Freeze it for a couple of hours and whip the mixture again so that no ice crystals are formed and it is creamy. Repeat this step 3-4 times and freeze until set.

Custard Powder Ice Cream is ready!

Scoop out & enjoy!! 🙂

Tips:

  1. U can use any flavour of custard powder as per your preference.
  2. After adding the custard mixture, stir continuously in low flame. Else it will result in lumps.
  3. Do not exceed the amount of custard powder than mentioned above.
  4. Whipping the mixture 3-4 times ensures that no ice crystals are formed and the ice cream is creamy.
  5. U can use condensed milk instead of sugar for an extra richness.
  6. Once the Custard Powder Ice Cream is set, leave it in room temperature for 5 mins and then scoop out. Else it would be hard to scoop out.
