Atta Halwa – Wheat Flour Halwa

March 15, 2018 Sweets/Desserts  2 comments

Atta Halwa or whole Wheat Flour Halwa is an easy sweet/dessert that can be made in less than 20 mins. This is a no fail recipe. With just 3 ingredients, this is a quick sweet for sudden cravings or any special occasion. This halwa is smooth, moist & it will just melt in your mouth. My mom makes this when she makes ghee. She uses the same pan in which she makes ghee to make this Atta Halwa, the idea being – ghee sticking to the pan will not go waste. Am wondering myself, how I missed to post this recipe here for so long. Anyways here it is, the humble Wheat Flour Halwa. This is a very good combo with Poori in North India.

Carrot Halwa – Gajar Halwa

February 21, 2018 Sweets/Desserts  3 comments

Carrot Halwa is an all time favourite. It is a divine treat when served warm on a winter day! Yumm!! I love it when made with Delhi carrots. Was so happy and surprised to see them here during last week’s shopping as it is hardly available here. All we get are those English carrots. The red colour of Delhi carrots is so attractive. So it is so obvious that I made this Carrot Halwa. I have already posted a microwave version of this Halwa earlier. Check it HERE. This is an elaborate method, Of course it is lip-smacking and worth the time & effort. Do check my Beetroot Halwa & Potato Halwa too.

Now to the re...

Kaju Pista Roll

October 16, 2017 Diwali SweetsSweets/Desserts  2 comments

Kaju Pista Roll had been in my plan list for last year’s Diwali. Somehow could not manage to make it. This time when I made the Kaju Katli video, made it as an extended version. It is in fact an extension of Kaju Katli as the base layer is the same with an additional pista filling. Made it as a video recipe too. So happy about the results as it tasted just like the ones we get in sweet shops. With this my sweet collection for this year’s Diwali is over.

Carrot Burfi is a mouth-watering sweet perfect for Diwali. This is yet another sweet which does not need sugar syrup consistency. It is a no fail recipe even beginners can try. Nobody will be able to find out that it is made out of carrot. The combo of besan makes it taste like carrot mysore pak. Though the procedure for mysore pak is different. I have grated carrot and used it here. Chk tips for other options.

Paal Kesari or Milk Kesari is a simple South Indian sweet. I made this for the 1st day of Navaratri (today). Perfect for this festive season and for sudden cravings/guests. It is very similar to the normal Rava Kesari. The addition of milk gives it a magical taste. It tasted more like a halwa! The needed ingredients are always available at home. All u need is 15-20 mins. Do check my Semiya Kesari & Aval Kesari recipes too.

Homemade Chocolate – Easy Chocolate Recipe

March 8, 2017 Bars N CookiesSweets/Desserts  7 comments

Homemade Chocolate has been in my to do & trial list since a long time. I have tried making it 3 times using various methods – with milk powder, single string sugar consistency, microwave version!! And all of it has been a super flop!! It was not presentable and refused to leave the mould, but it did not go waste!!Β Β After all the attempts, finally this version worked well. This is a simple, no fail process with just 3 ingredients. If u do not like a coconut flavoured chocolate, u might not like this. To me it tasted like a smoother, no bits version of Bounty Chocolate. If u like Bounty, or coconut flavour in your chocolate then GO for it!! Do try my No bake Choco Nutty Cake.

Wishing u all a very happy new year!! I always like to begin the new year on a sweet note. This Kalakand is an easy-peasy sweet that can be made in just 15 mins with very simple ingredients. In fact just 2 main ingredients. The traditional method to make Kalakand is quite a long process, but this a quick and shortcut method with condensed milk. I made this for a small get-together at home and it was a super hit. I adapted this recipe from nestle channel and tweaked it a bit. Can the 1st post of the year be without a video?!? Definitely not!! πŸ™‚ Another simple sweet woth condensed milk is 10 Min Palkova.

Yayyyyy!! Finally made it! Yes!! Adhirasam was a long time due post. I tried making it for last Diwali and it was a super flop πŸ™ Did not dare to try it again until this year’s Diwali. It was a flop again!! Lazy me, I tried making it with store bought rice flour. Though I got the jaggery syrup consistency right both the times, it was a super flop!! Finally I made it with homemade rice flour and it was a super hit!! In my opinion, traditional recipes should be made the traditional way – No shorcuts!! πŸ™‚ So pls don’t get disappointed if it doesnt work. Just try again!! Now I can tell all the Do’s & Dont’s to make Adhirasam successfully..

I gained courage to make it as a ...
