Tawa Pulao – Street Style Tawa Pulao

October 30, 2019 Lunch Box MenuRice Varieties  No comments

Tawa Pulao or Pav Bhaji Pulao is a popular street style Pulao of Mumbai. Street vendors use a big sized tawa. I simply love the way they make Pav Bhaji. Wanted to try this Tawa Pulao since a long time but wanted to try a small amount as to fit my size of Tawa. Made it on a day when I cooked lunch only for me πŸ™‚ Made this just to post it here, otherwise would have ended up eating noodles or Pasta. Came out very well. Apparently just gave a taster to my boys and made it again the next day on popular demand. πŸ™‚ Check the video..

Spinach Biryani is an easy and nutritious one pot meal, perfect for lunch boxes. This Spinach Biryani happened on the day I had nothing in the fridge except for spinach. We were in no mood for Spinach Kootu, rice etc etc. All we wanted was Biryani πŸ™‚ Trust me, this tasted totally yumm! We loved the aroma that filled the house and while opening the cooker. It was just wow! I was actually wondering if I should grind the spinach or use it as is. Ended up with the second choice. Shall update here when I try the other here.

Moong Dal Khichdi – Dal Khichdi

July 20, 2017 Bachelor Friendly RecipesRice Varieties  3 comments

Moong Dal Khichdi is a recent favourite! I really loved it when we had it in a Rajasthani restaurant in Chennai. The flavours were subtle and the khichdi’s consistency was more like a porridge, making it just melt in the mouth. This one is quite different from the Dal Khichdi which is made from moong beans. Its a kids friendly recipe. Am in the look out for some one pot meal when I run out of time. This suits perfectly. All u need is to saute a few ingredients and cook it along with rice and moong dal. Thats it! Yummy and simple meal will be ready in no time! All the bachelors out there would find this very handy and useful πŸ™‚

Bisi Bele Bath is a speciality of Karnataka. It is quite similar to our Sambar Sadham except for some changes in the masala! I so so love both the versions! Its such a breeze to make. U can have it with a simple papad as it is loaded with veggies and does not need any side dish as such. I prefer to make this on a weekend as we love to have it hot! And also the consistency is best when served hot & fresh.

Coconut Rice is a simple and yummy lunch box rice variety. It can be made in just 15 to 20 mins. Not much cooking skills are needed to make this. In the sense, it is perfect for bachelors. Am not a big fan of variety rice, but once in a while I like to have it. Puliyodharai is an exception though! Coconut Rice and potato fry is an unbeatable combo! In fact I would say it is the default combo at home πŸ™‚ Finally not to forget that this Coconut Rice tastes very flavourful when made with freshly grated coconut.
