Ven Pongal is always a favourite at home. It is a very easy to make comfort breakfast food. It is truly divine when served hot with a dollop of ghee. Ven Pongal, Vadai, Sambar & Coconut Chutney.. Gosh!! It is an unbeatable South Indian combo!!  We love both the tiffin sambars with this pongal. I usually do the tempering in the beginning itself, so that the work would be done in one shot. U can temper finally too. Post updated with video :)

After all the festival food, all I wanted was a simple and light meal. So we opted for curd rice and this simple yet lip-smacking Coriander Chutney. It is a truly divine combo. This Coriander chutney / Kothamalli Thuvayal is a tasty multi purpose chutney/thuvayal variety that goes well with idli, dosa & rice. This is a no coconut & no onion-no garlic version. We love to have this spicy, tangy chutney with almost anything and everything…

I usually make this when we get bored with the normal idli/dosa or especially when I am tired/lazy, this comes to my rescue. I have already posted an aval/poha upma recipe earlier. This Potato Broad-Beans fry is a simple stir fry. This is my favourite since childhood. We call this Aloo-Avarakkai. I dont know from where we derived this name, as Aloo is in hindi & Avarakkai is in tamil. Funny na?? But we call it that way :) It goes well with rice (rasam, sambar, curd) & chapathi or even bread. I purposely prepare a little extra & use the left over sabji to make a grilled sandwich. Yumm!!
