Veg Kurma – Mixed Vegetable Kurma

June 4, 2017 Dals/GraviesMixed Veg  13 comments

Veg Kurma / Mixed Vegetable Kurma is a perfect side dish for chapathi/poori. This combo is most popularly served in restaurants. Its a good blend of vegetables in a coconut based gravy. This appears in my kitchen quite rarely as most of the time I end up making Paneer Butter Masala, Methi Matar Malai etc.. I usually make this Veg Kurma when I have left over vegetables, in the sense very little of each veggie that is not enough to make a side dish of its own.. 🙂 Post updated with video on 04/06/17

Paneer Kurma – Paneer Korma

February 22, 2017 Dals/GraviesPaneer Dishes  2 comments

Kurma is a very popular South Indian sidedish for chapathi, poori & parotta. I should say, am not a big fan of kurma. When it comes to paneer, my 1st option would be Paneer Butter Masala. I wanted to make a spicy kurma kind of gravy and made this Paneer Kurma. It came out really well. It was quite spicy, rather than the usual buttery kind of gravy. Hubby liked it very much. It is quite similar to the Veg Kurma recipe which I have shared long back. Really loved the paneer version of it. Recipe with video..

Lauki Chana Dal – Bottle Gourd Chana Dal

November 30, 2016 Dals/Gravies  2 comments

Lauki Chana Dal is nothing but bottle gourd (sorakkai) cooked along with chana dal in a onion-tomato based gravy. Its a very simple and healthy gravy. Bottle gourd has a lot of health benefits, especially for lactating mothers. This gravy is quite a different way to use bottle gourd, rather than making the usual kootu. As u know I am always in the look for side dishes to go with roti/phulka, this is a perfect and complete meal altogether with roti.

Paneer is always considered as a special dish as far as our family is concerned. Am sure it would be the same for all vegetarians. This Paneer Makhani is an easy and simple side dish that goes well with roti, naan or pulao varieties. Paneer is cooked in a thick and rich tomato-cashew base gravy. Without onions, this Paneer Makhani really stands out when compared to the usual Paneer Butter Masala or Shahi Paneer.

Gobi Manchurian

August 4, 2015 Dals/GraviesGobi/Cauliflower  12 comments

Gobi Manchurian is a popular Indo – Chinese recipe. It is found in most of the Indian restaurant’s menu. This can be made as a gravy or dry version which can be had as a starter. This Gobi Manchurian is a gravy version that goes well with Vegetable Pulao, Jeera Rice or rotis/naan.

For me the biggest problem in making this Gobi Manchurian recipe is – I have to literally hide the fried cauliflower pieces from Chotu and hubby. Else by the time I finish making the gravy, there will be nothing left!!

Now to the recipe...

Poori and Potato Masala is the unbeatable combo in a South Indian restaurant’s breakfast menu. It is a very easy and quick recipe. Though many of u might know how to make this, I thought this post would be useful for bachelors and beginners. This same Potato Masala can be used as stuffing for masala dosa.
