  • Repeat for all bread slices. Add a few drops of rose essence and gently mix the soaked bread mixture. It will in the form of a sticky dough. Meanwhile heat a pan with oil enough to deep fry. Pinch a small ball sized dough and roll gently and smoothly. Keep all the balls ready to fry.

  • Drop 4-5 balls in hot oil and fry them in low-medium flame until golden brown. Drain in paper towels and transfer them to warm sugar syrup. Let it rest for atleast 2 hours so that the balls absorb the sugar syrup.

Tips:

  1. Do not apply pressure while mixing the dough and shaping the balls. It will become hard and will not absorb the sugar syrup.
  2. U can grease your palms with oil/ghee while shaping the balls.
  3. Fry the balls in low-medium flame, else it will be brown outside and not cooked inside.
  4. Make sure to squeeze off the excess milk, else the dough will be very sticky and difficult to handle.
  5. If u find the dough very sticky and unable to shape into balls, add 1 or 2 tbsps of milk powder.
  6. Adding rose essence gives a nice flavour, u can skip if u dont have. It taste good just with the cardamom flavour too.
