Bread Besan Toast

Bread Besan Toast is an easy and yummy breakfast/snack that can be made in a jiffy. Unlike the Bread Bajji which is deep fried, this Bread Besan Toast is a low fat guilt free version. U just need to whisk a few ingredients, dip and coat the bread in it and toast it. How easy is that?!? If u do not eat eggs, this is the best alternative to a french toast.

Now to the recipe..

Method:

  • Chop the onion, green chillies, coriander leaves and ginger finely. Take besan in a wide bowl. Add salt, chilli powder, asafoetida to it. Add little water and make a batter. I used a wire whisk so that there are no lumps.

  • Now add the chopped ingredients and mix well. It should neither be watery nor very thick, just like dosa batter. Heat a pan or tava and drizzle some oil.

  • Dip the bread slice in the batter on both the sides. Make sure the bread is coated well with the besan mixture and place it in the pan. Toast it on both the sides in low-medium flame so that it gets cooked well and is golden brown.

Tips:

  1. Make sure the batter is neither very watery nor thick. Consistency should be similar to dosa batter.
  2. Coat the bread slices well with the besan mixture. U can also spoon the mixture on top of each slice while toasting the bread.
  3. U can skip green chilles if u are serving the Bread Besan Toast to kids. Adjust chilli powder accordingly.
  4. Do not toast the coated bread hastliy. Make sure to toast it in low-medium flame so that it gets cooked evenly.
