Badam Burfi is an easy and quick Diwali sweet. This version can be done in a jiffy in a microwave. So u dont have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Unlike the traditional method u dont have to worry about getting the sugar syrup consistency correctly. Is that not good news? Check my Badam Halwa recipe HERE.

Now to the recipe…

Badam Burfi My Magic Pan

Badam Burfi Ingredients:

  • Almonds (Peeled) – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 1 1/4 cup
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Ghee – 2tbsp
  • Saffron Food Colour – a pinch(Optional)

Method:

  • Peel the skin of almonds by soaking it in boiling water for 20 mins. I used blanched almonds so skipped this step. Grind it with 1/2 cup of milk into a smooth paste.

  • Take a wide open microwave safe bowl and add the almond paste, sugar and mix well. Microwave it in high power for 6 mins stirring it frequently. The 2nd & 3rd pics are 3 mins and 6 mins respectively.

  • Add food colour at this stage ( if using) and mix well. Microwave it for another 2 minutes. Add ghee and mix. Microwave it for a few seconds. It will be thick. Tranfer this to a greased plate and slice it when it still warm.

Tips:

  1. Do not add more milk, else the paste will become watery and will take a long time to make the burfi.
  2. The timings purely depend upon your microwave. It might take a few minutes more or less. Mine exactly took 9 minutes.
  3. Be careful for the first few minutes, as it might bubble and spill out. Keep a keen eye.
  4. I used saffron food colour by mixing it with a few drops of milk. You can skip this if you want.
