Lobia Masala – Lobia Masala Curry

April 29, 2019 Dals/Gravies  No comments

Lobia is nothing but black eyed peas. Lobia Masala is a delicious gravy recipe perfect to go with roti and rice. This requires some planning time to soak the black eyed peas. But need not be soaked overnight like Rajma or Chana. Other than that this can be made very quickly. There are 2 ways of doing this. One way is by cooking the lobia first and then adding it to onion-tomato base and the second way is making the onion-tomato base, adding the soaked lobia to it and pressure cooking it. I have followed the 2nd method. Check my Rajma Masala gravy if u want to follow the 1st method.

My weekend chores always include grinding idli-dosa batter + another dosa variety to equip the week days. This Quinoa Adai is one such successful trial. It was so crispy and tasty. If u want to skip rice in making adai, then do try this or u can even try my Godhuma Rava Adai recipe. It is a perfect breakfast recipe to the start of a day.

Chana Biryani – Chickpeas Biryani

April 11, 2019 Rice Varieties  No comments

Its been a long time since I posted any biryani recipe here. This Chana Biryani or Chickpeas Biryani is an aromatic, protein packed biryani perfect to pack for lunch. It is a simple and easy recipe too. All u have to plan for is the soaking time of chana/chickpeas. My all time favourite is this humble Tomato Biryani. Since chana/chickpeas take a long time to cook, we have just have one extra step by cooking it separately first and then making the biryani. But that can be done simultaneously thus saving time.
