Kollu Sundal – Horsegram Sundal

September 29, 2016 Navaratri Special  4 comments

Navaratri is around the corner. This Kollu Sundal is a flavourful and easy sundal to make during Navaratri. The only planning needed to make this sundal is to soak kollu/horsegram overnight. After making the Kollu Rasam, for which I used only a little portion of the cooked kollu, I made this Kollu Sundal. It was so flavourful and filling.

Do check my full collection for Navaratri HERE !!

I love Biryani, especially Paneer Biryani. It is a festive meal for almost all vegetarians. This Paneer Biryani is a simple one pot meal made in a pressure cooker. Unlike the normal Veg Biryani there is not much chopping work or grinding involved here. The only step that u have to plan ahead is to marinate the paneer. I usually make Biryani during weekends. It is an easy lunch box option to make during weekdays too.

Nobody at home knew that it is included in this rasam, especially Chotu. So good for me, nobody complains 🙂 This Kollu Rasam was so flavourful and unique as Kollu has a very good flavour of its own.

Kambu Dosai – Pearl Millet Dosai

September 16, 2016 Breakfast/DinnerDosa Corner  3 comments

Kambu is a millet variety, known as pearl millet in english and bajra in hindi. It has a very unique flavour and aroma by itself. As a child, I never used to like this Kambu Dosai. But now-a-days I love these kind of recipes. To my surprise Chotu also liked it. Unlike me, he is a good child 🙂 This Kambu Dosai does involve grinding/fermenting like the normal dosa. It is a much healthier option than the normal dosa.

Paneer is always considered as a special dish as far as our family is concerned. Am sure it would be the same for all vegetarians. This Paneer Makhani is an easy and simple side dish that goes well with roti, naan or pulao varieties. Paneer is cooked in a thick and rich tomato-cashew base gravy. Without onions, this Paneer Makhani really stands out when compared to the usual Paneer Butter Masala or Shahi Paneer.

Mothagam – With Kadalai Paruppu Pooranam

September 1, 2016 Pillayar Chathurthi Recipes  5 comments

This Mothagam with Kadalai Paruppu Pooranam is the trademark recipe in every household for Pillayar Chathurthi. On the day I make Chickpeas Sundal, this mothagam or Mothagam with coconut pooranam and Ellu Urundai. Sometimes Medhu Vadai would also be in the list. So I usually end up making the pooranam the previous day so that it is quite easy. I tried making the Mothagam with a mould that I got from India. This is really handy, especially for beginners who find it difficult to shape the Mothagams.
